Photo: Woman attacked and mauled to death by pit bulls

Suraya Chantell Pillay endured an excruciating death after she was savagely mauled to death by Pit Bull terriers in the early hours of Saturday, February 6, near a local drug den off Rucklen Place, South Africa. The 30-year-old from Oakbridge sustained deep wounds to her neck, chest and arms and deep lacerations to the bone on both her legs.

The Phoenix Sun made contact with her bereaved family and spoke to her sister, Angel Pillay.

"She was good person and even though she had a drug habit, she would work by doing odd jobs to support it. She was a very generous and kind person."

The deceased had allegedly been an addict for at least seven years and was known to frequent the area where her body was found. According to members of her family, she stopped going there for a few months and only recently returned- and they are not sure why.

Pillay would leave the house in the morning and always returned at night by 9pm and seldom at midnight, but never after. The family are at a loss to understand why she would have stayed out after the curfew that she had kept in recent months.

Witness reports at the scene of the incident have been confusing and conflicted. According to South Africa Police Service (SAPS), a witness called the police after they heard a woman scream and they managed to chase the dogs away. Phoenix communication office said:

"The witnesses claim that they discovered the victim being attacked by several dogs that only left the victim alone after stones were thrown at them. The dogs are currently unidentified and no witnesses have come forward to identify the dogs or the owner."

A witness who claimed to have been present at the scene alleges that the victim was completely naked, except for a brown cloth covering her private area. This fact is extremely significant to her sister who says that Suraya left the house that morning wearing blue jeans and a long sleeved black top- which has not been located.

The family claim to have received mixed versions of what took place on the night their sister died. There are still many unanswered questions and the identity of the dog and the owner is yet to be confirmed. Ms Pillay said,

"We hope that people who know who is responsible will come forward and name the pet owner responsible for this. My sister did not deserve to die this way." Ms Pillay said.

There have been no arrests or charges laid.

Photos: 'World's heaviest teenager' finally walks after over 3 years of being stuck in bed

Khaled Mohsen Al Shaeri, once called the "World's Heaviest Teenager," is seen walking for the first time in years in a new video posted by the Sun.

Shaeri lost 700 lbs after being airlifted out of his Saudi Arabian home in August 2013 on the orders of the late King Abdullah, who financed his medical treatment. As at when he was airlifted, he weighed a massive 1,345 lbs at the age of 17 and hadn't left his bed in three years according to the report by The Sun..

The young man has lost over half of his weight with a focused hospital fitness routine, and he is on track to lose more through his health program.

In 2014, Dr. Aa’ed al-Qahtani, the head of Shaeri’s medical team, told Sayidaty magazine that Shaeri’s muscle strength and heart and lung function had all improved, and his inflammation was down.

A custom wheelchair helped him start to become more mobile, and Shaeri, once called the ‘world’s heaviest teenager’ built up slowly to the proud moments on the video.

Doctors say he is now more cheerful, happy and lively compared to how he was before he was admitted.

Senate to probe Obasanjo, Jonathan, El Rufai over Abuja land grab, threatens to send those found guilty to Kuje prison

The Senate Committee on Federal Capital Territory has vowed to probe former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan as well as former ministers of the FCT and now governor of Kaduna state, El Rufai, over allegations of Land grabbing during their tenures in office.

Chairman, Senate Committee on Federal Capital Territory, Senator Dino Melaye who spoke to journalist in Abuja yesterday February 10th, said the probe will not exempt any former Minister of the FCT or President, adding that as a government of change, it was prepared to send any one found guilty to Kuje Prison.

Melaye alleged that former FCT ministers allocated green areas designed for flood drains, city buffers, recreations, urban farming, reserved land and undevelopable areas to themselves and their friends.
“With this administration of change, it is no longer going to be business as usual. Permit me to remind FCT administration again by stating that this committee will not hesitate to ensure that all administrative anomalies, misappropriation of funds or misapplication of laws as the case may be, occasioned by the past administrations of FCT, are fully addressed. This is what justice demands in these circumstances; to right the wrongs. Therefore, the committee is worried and frowns on satanic and misleading advice and recommendation to convert very important and beautiful natural endowments or features which are very scanty like the world acclaimed Maitama Hills, popularly known as Ministers’ Hills, which could serve as a tourist attraction to the residents of FCT. I want to state here again that if the bourgeois of this country need a special allocation, a new district can be dedicated to them and not destroy the beauty of the city centre, a national monument like the Maitama Hills.”he said

Grandson shoots and decapitates his grandparents in their home

See the way he's smiling in his mugshot. A young man in Oklahoma has been arrested after allegedly shooting and then decapitating his grandmother and her husband. Quinton Dashawn Laster, 20, is facing two complaints of first-degree murder for the death of 59-Sharon Reed and 78-year-old James Earl Reed who were found in their Oklahoma City home.

The two own and operate a day care out of their home, and three children were also found when police discovered the bodies.

They had not been harmed or hurt.

NBC 4 reports that the children, whose ages have not been released, were found in the garage area of the home and have been safely returned to their families.

Police arrived on the scene Tuesday afternoon after they received a call from a neighbor to check on the welfare of the couple.

Laster was outside the home when they arrived and he was taken into custody.

Gerald Lyon, who lived next door to the couple, told Fox 25 that Laster came to his door shortly before 2pm on Tuesday.

'I said "What is it?" and he said, "Somebody killed my grandma,"' said Lyon, who noticed that the young man had a gun.

'I said, "Well you need to call 911 if you've done that," and he said, "I'm thinking about it." I said, "Thinking about it? You need to do it."'

Laster then returned to the home, at which point Lyon called 911, noting the boy did not seem violent but 'frightened.'

Family members said Reed had been running the daycare out of her home for 20 years.

Wow! Breadseller Olajumoke's story makes it to Huffington Post UK

For anyone who has ever spent their work day fantasising about being spotted by amodel scout, Olajumoke Orisaguna's remarkable story is the stuff of your most wishful daydreams.
Orisaguna, 27, was working as a bread seller in Lagos, Nigeria, when she unintentionally walked into a shot photographer Ty Bello had lined up of Tinie Tempah.

Tempah was taken by the bread seller, sharing a photo of her on his own Instagram account.

However, at first Bello didn't give the interloper a second thought.
"The moment didn't look special at all," she wrote on Instagram. "If anything she stood there a little confused.
"Some people asking her to leave the set and others asking her to stay. I signaled [to ask] if it was ok to take her photograph and she agreed, and I pressed on my shutter so she could move ahead.
"I was wrong to have paid her such little attention. Every frame with her in it was perfect."
Looking through her photos after the shoot, Bello found herself drawn to the figure of Orisaguna and decided to appeal on Instagram for information about the mysterious stranger who pulled focus from the pop star.
"Who is she?" Bello wrote. "Everyone has been asking if this lady is a model... It was a perfect coincidence... She just happened to be walking by while I photographed. It happened so fast.
"She definitely should be a model. I'm happy to help her build her portfolio if she's interested.
"She's so beautiful and photographed so well. I'll find a way to track her down somehow. You guys can also help."

\An extraordinary genius and proficient physicist, mathematician, astronomer and alchemist, Sir Isaac Newton is considered to be the greatest and the most influential scientist who ever lived. One of the paramount contributors of the 17th century Scientific Revolution, he developed the principles of modern physics which he laid out in his book, ‘Philosophiae, Natrualis, Principia Mathematica’. Popularly known as Principia, the book highlighted the concepts of universal gravitation and laws of motions which remained at the forefront of science for centuries after. Furthermore, he worked on and developed the theory of color. He was the first to lay out the fact that color is an intrinsic property of light and that when reflected, scattered or transmitted, a white light decomposed into numerous colors that are visible in the spectrum or in the rainbow. He was responsible for building the first practical telescope. Newton also contributed to the study of power series, generalised the binomial theorem to non-integer exponents, and developed method for approximating the roots of a function. Apart from all the aforementioned, Newton made noteworthy and substantial contribution in the field of alchemy and theology as well. In his life, he held numerous significant positions such as serving as the Lucasian Professor of mathematics, President of the Royal Society and Warden and Master of the Mint. Thus, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that Newton, single-handedly, achieved milestones in physics that laid the groundwork for future discoveries by scientists across the globe.
Childhood & Early Life
  • Isaac Newton was born to Hannah Ayscough and Isaac Newton on the Christmas of 1642. His father died three months prior to his birth. Hannah remarried Reverend Barnabus Smith, leaving the three-year old Newton under the care of his maternal grandmother, Margery Ayscough.
  • Newton attained his preliminary education from The King’s School in Grantham, where he excelled and achieved the top-rank. He then enrolled himself as a sizar at the Trinity College, Cambridge in 1661.
  • It was during his years at the Cambridge that Newton developed an interest in physics, mathematics, optics and astronomy. Though he was taught standard curriculum, he developed an interest in advanced science and spent his time reading works of modern philosophers.
  • A plague epidemic of 1665 forced the shutdown of the college for two years, which Newton spent at his home in Woolsthorpe. However, he did not let go of his studies and continued the same privately.
  • It was during these two years of hiatus from regular studies that Newton worked on the development of his theories on calculus, optics and law of gravitation. He even discovered the generalised binomial theorem and began to develop a mathematical theory that later became infinitesimal calculus.
  • Newton contributed heavily to the field of mathematics, distinctly advancing every branch of the subject then studied. His work on fluxions or calculus was featured in the manuscript of 1666, which was later published with his mathematical papers.
  • It was his solutions to the contemporary problems in analytical geometry of drawing tangents to curves (differentiation) and defining areas bounded by curves (integration) that brought him into the limelight. Newton discovered that the problems were inverse to each other.
  • He also discovered general methods of resolving problems of curvature, through his method of fluxions and inverse method of fluxions, today known as differentiation and integration calculus. Unlike Leibniz’s usage of algebraically expressing calculus, Newton used both algebra and geometry to express the same.
  • Furthermore, Newton is credited for finding out the generalised binomial theorem. He even discovered Newton's identities, Newton's method and classified cubic plane curves.
  • Newton made significant contribution to the theory of finite differences and was the first to employ fractional indices and coordinate geometry to derive solutions to Diophantine equations
  • He returned to Cambridge in 1667 as a Fellow of Trinity. However, the same required him to become an ordained priest, something which he detested from due to his unconventional views.
  • Newton postponed the ordination indefinitely but could not prolong it further in 1669 when he was elected for the prestigious Lucasian Chair, an appointment for which ordination was a prerequisite. However, he secured special permission from Charles II which helped him to avoid ordination.
